There’s nothing like scrolling through the Discover page on Instagram and stumbling upon a photo of a space that captivates your imagination and makes you think, I want to live there one day! With so many incredible interior designers, both amateur and professional, it’s easy to get lost in the labyrinth of images. I’ve rounded up ten of my favorite design Instagram accounts to get your creative juices flowing. Maybe you’ll be inspired to switch up the paint colour in your living room, try a new tile in the kitchen, or play around with some eccentric artwork.
(In no particular order)
Self-declared rainbow thrower, vibrant decor enthusiast, do-it-yourself-er, author, speaker, HGTV host… Tiffany Pratt herself is an inspiration, let alone her design sense. Her feed is packed with swoon-worthy pinks, pastel hair colours, tassels, palm trees, patches, neon, textiles, and more. And her dog, Poppy “the wonder ween”, will melt your heart.
For those who love spaces you can imagine Diane Keaton living in, this is for you. But seriously, blogger Elizabeth lives in a stylish 20’s era apartment in Chicago (umm, I’m jealous already) and creates cozy, classic atmospheres. You’ll find a lot of blue and white, of course, as well as vintage pieces and a strong shot of elegance.
Effortlessly cool LA vibes curated by boutique hotel owners from Canada. Their account is filled with palm trees, cheeky typography, inspirational quotes, and punches of pink. It has millennial written all over it, and will make you want to jet off on a tropical vacation with your girl squad and a vintage crate full of rose.
Abundance and maximalism is the name of the game. Aspirational spaces filled with plush pillows, luscious plants, billowing drapery, and an amount of accents and accessories that will make you question how often the homeowners have to dust. Get inspired by stand-out statement pieces like a mustard yellow couch, turquoise accent wall, or abstract print rug.
Daring interior design for the laid back, good vibes homeowner. Bring a taste of the exotic to your downtown abode, from sky high cacti to Moroccan-inspired carpets and textiles. Bright, layered colours, terracotta pots, floor poufs, wicker furniture, and tons of texture fill each tile of this Instagram.
My House Idea will give you total loft envy. Tall ceilings, black framed windows, expansive bookshelves, and spiral staircases are what you’ll find on this sleek design account. If you love looking at loft conversions and coveted downtown condos with luxurious, moody finishes, and thoughtful layouts, you’ll get lost in this Insta feed.
Get inspired by rooms from around the globe in this free-spirited, bohemian design account. Dawnelle and Kirsten will convince you that a jumbo pom pom throw blanket is the obvious choice for your dressing your platform bed, and that every room needs at least one floor pouf for good measure and ultimate comfort. The good news? This Insta account is linked to an online shop so you can actually buy the items you’ve bookmarked.
The best way to describe designer Ariel’s feed is FUN and inviting. So much so that she was named a BHG Stylemaker in 2018. Many of her decor accents are homemade, or improved with personal touches. Her bold patterns and colours are like a wash of sunshine, and feel achievable in your own home. A dinner party with a hot pink flamingo floatie? Yep, she can pull it off. Get to know Ariel herself as she is often featured in her shots, wearing colours and patterns that are equally as bold as her decor aesthetic. Her spaces are truly a reflection of her personality.
Modern and sleek, the high end finishes featured on Design Milk will make you rethink whether you should invest in a good sturdy couch, or that marble accent objet and a tech toilet that can probably read your mind. Lovers of exacting and architectural design, Pantone colours, and meticulously executed concepts will fall for this feed.
The ALT Living design account is like a hot black coffee; impossibly cool, thought provoking, deep, and exactly what you need to get inspired. Each space has texture, and just the right amount of elements to make a space feel comfortable without being crowded. Classic silhouettes and finishes are presented in a unique and modern way. The architecture of the spaces themselves is also swoonworthy, with gorgeous arches, monumental fireplaces, and high ceilings.
What inspires you?
