All the leading paint brands release their colour of the year. Sometimes bold and daring other times soft and understated, the colour of the year is always fresh.

Here are all the colours of the year according to Behr, Dulux and Benjamin Moore. We will outline how you can incorporate these stunning new hues into your home or office this year.

Behr’s colour of the year: Back to Nature (S340-4)

The environment and sustainability have been on everyone’s mind for the past year. Leading paint brand Behr chose the aptly named Back to Nature as the 2020 colour of the year. This energetic green hue reminds us to simplify, to be mindful of our wellness and instills a longing to travel the world.

This approachable yet striking shade is a great way to bridge working and living spaces. Whether you have a home office that needs an accent wall or a commercial space that needs a breath of fresh air, Back to Nature is a well-rounded colour that calms the senses.

Other colours on Behr’s 2020 colour pallet include Creamy Mushroom, Dragonfly and Bluebird. Creamy Mushroom is perfect for neutral paint lovers. This timeless and elegant hue works well in any hallway or room at home or in a commercial space.

Dragonfly is a refreshing blend of blue and green that awakens the senses and looks crisp and clean next to dark and light furniture and accessories. This colour would be perfect on a soaring hallway wall or conference room back wall.

Bluebird is a soft but bold blue that can be used to make a focal point in any room. Paint a mantle place, accent table or wall this colour for a bright and cheery pop of colour in your space.

Benjamin Moore’s colour of the year: First Light (2102-70)

The backdrop to a new decade according to Benjamin Moore is a soft, airy pink. This alternative to white or beige is a perfect addition to any space you want to freshen up.  First Light complements any other colours already in your home or office, especially shades of brown and earth-tones.

Use it on a half wall or accent wall for a clean, mood-lifting touch of colour. Or use it on every wall in an office, living room or hallway. First Light can go anywhere you’d normally see white or beige.

Dulux colour of the year: Chinese Porcelain (DLX 1160-6)

Blue is one of the most popular colours of all time. It’s steadying and calm and is also the colour of knowledge and stability.

Dulux’s colour of the year, Chinese Porcelain, is the perfect transition from neutrals to the world of colours. This gorgeous blue is a perfect backdrop for light or vibrant colours.

Chinese Porcelain looks great with white or warm metal accents. It plays well with grays as well. You might want to paint an accent wall in Chinese Porcelain and use Grey Marble on the other walls for a sense of calm as soon as you walk in.

Evoke new emotions with the colours of the year

The great thing about the various colours of the year is that though they come from different paint brands, all these colours work in harmony. All strive to add balance, stability and calm to our rooms, and in turn, to our lives.

Now that we are at the start of a new decade, we could all use a fresh coat of paint to get us into a peaceful yet energized state of mind.
